Jake's visual language comes from an unsettling vision he once had that centered around decay and the rebirth. Immersing himself into an expressionistic studio practice, he looks to recreate the condions and feelings he felt in that moment. Loose applications of paint create figure like forms that are refined and lost repeatedly. Jake becomes a witness as he watches and reacts to the forms going through a process he recognizes from his vision.
